About This Spot

Stepping into Glenda’s Cafe & Catering feels like slipping into a cherished neighborhood kitchen where time slows just enough to savor the simple joys of a good meal and familiar company. The hum of quiet conversations blends with the gentle clinking of coffee cups, creating a rhythm that’s both comforting and welcoming. This is a spot where mornings begin with the warmth of freshly brewed coffee and the aroma of classic breakfast fare, and the pace invites lingering over dishes that feel thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed.

The cafe's modest size and friendly staff foster a close-knit atmosphere reminiscent of home, where regulars are greeted by name and newcomers quickly find their place at the communal table. There’s a gentle honesty here—a focus on hearty flavors and dishes that carry the quiet pride of a family recipe perfected over time. Whether it’s the satisfying crunch of a chicken fried steak or the tender comfort of biscuits and gravy, every plate arrives as more than nourishment: it’s a small ritual of connection and contentment.

Though Glenda’s kitchen stays busy with breakfast and lunch, it’s the familiar, unpretentious soul of the food that stays in the heart. The daily specials invite curiosity and reward those who return, while the occasional homemade dessert offers a sweet punctuation to the experience. You might find yourself drawn to classic sandwiches layered with care, or settle into a plate of mac and cheese that feels like a warm embrace after a long day. The side dishes—from fried okra to mashed potatoes—add layers of texture and meaning, echoing a tradition of Southern hospitality in every bite.

Here, the sense of place is as much about the people and moments shared as it is about the food. There’s a gentle consistency that feels like an old friend—familiar, dependable, and quietly exceptional. Whether you’re stopping in for a weekday break or catching up with someone over lunch, Glenda’s offers a pause filled with kindness and tasty simplicity that lingers just a little while longer after the last bite.

This is a great little place in Greenville, TX. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly. They are only open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday. We dined in on a Wednesday and had two of the lunch specials. My lunch special of chicken fried chicken with two sides was delicious, and my mother had chicken fried steak with two sides, but hers was over cooked. Rolls were a bit chewy and the tea had a bad taste, so that’s the reason for the four stars. I will return to dine again, and will recommend this small cafe in Greenville.

For a little, tiny cafe that's been in the city forever. It's still pumps out some of the best food for the money you could get. They only serve breakfast until eleven. Because they have a small kitchen. They always have daily specials that are really good like chicken, fried steak and their desserts are the bomb everything homemade.

Used to always eat at the Lee St. location years ago, and today is the first time that myself and my wife have eaten at this location. Very friendly staff, still great food, friendly atmosphere and still the best hamburgers around as far as I'm concerned!

This is a very good cafe. I had chicken fried steak and it was great. It had a slight crunch with every bite. It was well seasoned and wasn't over powered by the gravy. I'll definitely have it again.
